Good morning! Here are the plays everybody will be talking about on Monday:
Ryder Cup. Team USA walloped Europe 17-11 to win the 2016 Ryder Cup. All 12 Americans contributed at least one point to the overall score. That included Ryan Moore, the last player added to the team just a week ago. Moore went 2-1 in his three matches including the decisive win over Lee Westwood on Sunday. Moore trailed by two holes with three to play. He won holes 16, 17, and 18 to take the match and give Team USA enough points to clinch the Ryder Cup. On the final hole, Moore just need to 2-putt and that’s what he did.
Cam Newton takes yet another hit to the helmet and this one put him on the sideline. Much was made of the Carolina Panthers’ Week 1 loss to the Denver Broncos when Newton took several shots to the head. He avoided concussion protocol in that game and did not miss a snap. Things were different this week in the Panthers’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Newton took a blow to the helmet on a 2-point conversion. He suffered a concussion on the play and never returned. Now the Panthers are under the microscope to see if Newton will return next week (read more here).
The Giants clinch a playoff spot and Vin Scully makes the last call of his career. I’ve said this plenty of times before, but the single best thing about having access to every MLB games these days has been late-night Dodgers games. After watching the early games, onm most nights I could count on Vin Scully telling me a 2-3 hour bedtime story. But on Sunday, Scully made the final call of his 67-year career. Here is what it sounded like.
The unbelievable-youth-football-catch-of-the-year bonus. Jaden Wilson for the Pro Titans of the WCFL youth football league in Wellington, FL made this incredible catch. He tips the ball to himself approximately six times and somehow manages to secure the ball on the way to the end zone. Wow.
