There are two easy ways to bet on the Super Bowl:1. Be in Vegas

2. Know a bookie

The third way — betting online at an offshore sportsbook — is way more tricky and annoying because banks and credit cards are legally prohibited from processing online gaming payments. But for the vast majority of Americans, it’s the only way to place a wager on the big game on Sunday.

If you have a Visa credit card, you’re one of the lucky ones who can fairly easily deposit cash into an online account. If you aren’t a Visa customer, things get complicated.

Never fear, over the next few pages, we’ll show you how to get a bet in by Sunday.

Quick note: Online gambling with offshore books comes with inherent risks since banks and credit card companies are prohibited from processing payments. If you try to deposit funds incorrectly, you could get denied and your bank account could be frozen. Also, some commenters have mentioned that the site we originally used for this post, Sportsbook.com, is “sleazy.” We, as well as many others, have used it and it’s worked fine (it’s also one of the largest books), but by all means shop around and find a site that’s right for you.

Here's the sign-up page. You've done this before, right?

There are two payment methods. But cash transfers are messy. So there's really only one: VISA.

If you have a Visa credit card, just enter your info you're good to go! But if you have Amex, Mastercard, or most debit cards, your absolutely do not want to try and make a deposit because your bank might freeze your account. So you'll have to jump through some hoops

So how do you deposit if you're not a Visa customer? The easiest way is to pick up a Visa gift card

But it can't be just any gift card. It has to be one that works online and internationally. So make sure you get a Visa Gift2Go, not Visa Vanilla

A few more details: You can load anywhere between $20 and $500 dollars on your gift card. But you have to pay a $5 fee when you buy the card in store.

Oh yeah, these gift cards incredibly hard to find. We found ours at this Walgreens in Hoboken

But as you can see, the world isn't exactly teeming with Visa Gift2Go cards

Standard registration form, nothing too private.

Once you have your Gift2Go card registered, go back to the deposit page on Bovada and enter your info just as you do a credit card

It'll bring you to this box where you can make any number of bets. If you like the Patriots -3, click the box

Then enter the amount you want to bet here. We'll go with $100

Once you click on the place bet, you're bet is in! Congrats, you did it

In conclusion: The hard part is depositing, and if you don't have a Visa credit card, you're sorta-kinda screwed unless you're willing to put in a lot of effort
