The Olympic torch survived a 50-day journey around the United Kingdom and an attempted heist, but the flame was briefly extinguished this weekend after a white water rafting trip.Torch-bearer Zachary Franklin was with the British men’s rafting team when the raft took a nose dive and the torch was splashed.
It was re-lit by a backup flame, which was originally lit in Greece, that accompanies the torch at all times, according to the Daily Telegraph.
We’re not sure who thought this would be a good idea, but you can see from the video that the flame was bound to be extinguished.
