After Saturday night’s Alabama-LSU game, Oklahoma State has jumped up into the coveted number two spot, and are now in position to play for the BCS championship game.Despite their loss to LSU, Alabama only fell to number three in the rankings, followed by Stanford and Boise State.
Oklahoma State has three tough games remaining, including two games on the road against Texas Tech and Iowa State. They also have a showdown at home against sixth-ranked Oklahoma, a game in which the Sooners could be favoured. And if the Cowboys slip up along the way, the Bama-or-Stanford debate will rear its ugly head.
Alabama holds the edge now despite one loss, but only have one game remaining against a ranked opponent (@ #20 Auburn). So if Stanford can beat seventh-ranked Oregon and then win the Pac-12 title game, Stanford will likely jump ahead of Alabama into the BCS title game.
