The Oklahoma City Thunder and the Orlando Magic have talked about a Dwight Howard blockbuster trade, Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel tweeted this morning.Woah!
According to Schmitz, the Magic’s asking price was apparently two young guys with a ton of potential — Serge Ibaka and James Harden.
But OKC balked at that.
You should view all Dwight rumours with a hefty dose of scepticism. And this rumour seems particularly random and preposterous because OKC is No. 1 in the West, doesn’t need a whole lot of tweaking, and already has a centre in Kendrick Perkins.
BUT, the Thunder did make a shock trade last year in landing Kendrick Perkins. Plus the haul of Ibaka and Harden is as good or better than any other deal the Magic are talking about.
Again, we don’t believe it’ll happen, and we have no idea how serious the discussions between the two teams were. But OKC would have three of the top 10 players in the league if this happened, which is nuts.
Schmitz is all over the Dwight Howard trade frenzy. So you might want to follow him in the lead up to next Thursday’s trade deadline if you’re an NBA fan.
