“Vote for jobs, schools, and small businesses—vote for the American Jobs Act. #passthebill”So reads one of several sample tweets Twitter users can send out through President Obama’s campaign website.
In speeches across the country promoting his jobs bill, President Obama joked that voters should tweet at their legislators, urging them to vote for the bill. Since Congress has yet to take action on that legislation, the Obama team introduced a tool on their website that lets Twitter users do just that.
The tool, called Tweet For Jobs, allows users to either tweet at their representatives or, if their congressmen don’t use Twitter, at House Speaker John Boehner. Users can then choose among preset tweets to fire out with the hashtag #passthebill.
