President Barack Obama is told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos just now that he is the underdog in the 2012 campaign.In a quote that will undoubtedly be repeated by his Republican opponents, Obama added that America is “not better off” than it was four years ago.
Asked what two words will define 2012? Obama said we “haven’t boiled it down to a bumper sticker, but it’s our vision for the future ”
Obama faced tough questions on Solyndra, the bankrupt solar company that received a federal loan. Obama said the loan “went through the regular review process,” and added that “hindsight is always 20/20.”
He said he has no regrets about the loan, and that “people felt like it was a good bet.”
Obama says he is “still working on” his position on gay marriage — and wouldn’t say whether his position would change before next year’s election.
Asked what websites he checks, Obama says he uses his iPad a lot. He said Steve Jobs gave him one “a little bit early,” adding he got it “directly from him.”
