In a speech to veterans, President Barack Obama addressed today’s jobs figures saying that while a positive sign, but said “we have to create more jobs” each month to make up for the millions of jobs lost in the recession.”We are going to get through this,” he said. “Things will get better.”
Obama called on Congress to take up job creating legislation when it gets back from recess next month — including more infrastructure spending.
“When Congress gets back in September I want to move quickly on things that can create jobs right now,” he said.
He also called on Congress to extend unemployment insurance, something House Majority Leader Eric Cantor ruled out this morning, unless it is offset by further spending cuts.
