President Barack Obama‘s re-election campaign isn’t wasting any time seizing on yesterday’s Tax Policy centre report on Mitt Romney‘s tax plan, which found that the Republican presidential candidate’s tax policies would raise taxes on all but the wealthiest Americans.
The campaign references the report in a new television ad released this morning and set to air in eight key swing states. The 30-second spot, “Stretch,” lays out the President’s line of attack in the starkest terms yet, slamming Romney for his low income tax rate and dubbing his tax plan a “Mitt Romney’s Middle Class Tax Increase.”

Virtually all of Romney's 2010 income was from capital gains and dividends, which are taxed at 15 per cent. After making $3 million in tax-deductible charitable contributions, Romney's effective tax rate was 13.9 per cent in 2010.
