New Yorkers have spoken, and they apparently would prefer Eliot Spitzer keep his hands off Gracie Mansion.
According to a NY1-Marist poll conducted last week “a whopping 62 per cent of registered city voters say they would prefer that Spitzer not run for mayor…Only 29 per cent say he should, while 10 per cent are unsure.”
The next mayoral election is in November of 2013, so Spitzer, who has long been rumoured to have his eye on another political office, still has plenty of time to refurbish his image should he so desire.
Judging from the current roster he would also benefit from a week field of candidates. Interestingly, the poll found that only 18 per cent said they would vote for Rep. Anthony Weiner. Weiner has been making a name for himself in the cable sphere of late, and clearly has his eye on bigger things.
Meanwhile, November 2013 is still a ways away, and the New York Post may have other ideas.
