From the AP, North Carolina has passed Amendment 1, which bans gay marriages and civil unions. It’s going to pass relatively easily. The final count, from Talking Points Memo, stands around 61 per cent in favour to 39 per cent that opposed. Even greater a margin than earlier polls had suggested.
Public Policy Polling, which did a great job polling and explaining the issue beforehand, reports that 89 per cent voted yes on the amendment in Graham County, probably the highest. Tom Jensen, its director, offers this:
