Microsoft And Nokia Are Trashing The iPhone In New Viral Ads

We’re less than a week away from the launch of Nokia’s Lumia 900, the Windows Phone that Microsoft is essentially betting the entire platform on.

It’s no secret Nokia is willing to market the hell out of this thing, and it’s starting with a new site called Smartphone Beta Test, featuring comedian Chris Parnell of SNL and 30 Rock fame. WP Central was the first to come across the new promotional website.

Right now, the site doesn’t have any official Nokia branding, but it’s pretty clear that’s just a marketing tactic to drum up buzz before the Lumia 900 launch. It features a handful of videos making fun of past iPhone failures like Antennagate, with “behind the scenes” videos of Apple execs discussing them.

This is a pretty lame first step. Smearing Apple hasn’t worked for Motorola or Samsung. Nokia should just focus on what makes the Lumia great.
