You have to pity Nintendo a little bit: the company booked its keynote at GDC long before Apple decided to monopolize the world’s attention with the iPad 2 announcement on the same morning. But in fact, the company made a couple of pretty cool announcements about the 3DS portable game player in its keynote, which was live-blogged by Joystiq:

  • Netflix will be available on the 3DS. Users will be able to start watching a movie on the portable, pause it, and pick it back up on the Wii.
  • Nintendo is teaming up with AT&T to give 3DS customers free access to more than 10,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots in the U.S.
  • A special 3D video channel will let Nintendo push 3D video trailers to the device.

Nintendo also said that the Web browser and online eShop that were supposed to ship with the device will now ship in May.
