Nikkei Ignores Crisis In Fukushima And Surges 0.7%

The Nikkei has opened higher, up 0.7%, after a weekend in which the situation at Fukushima clearly got worse.The radiation leak at the plant continues, with radioactive water spilling into the ocean. The attempt to close the hole with sawdust, newspaper, and plastic has thus far, failed, according to Bloomberg.

The yen has weakened, however, and that’s sending Japanese stocks higher at the open.
