Sidney Crosby hasn’t played a game for the Pittsburgh Penguins in nearly a year. But the wait may soon be over as the NHL’s biggest star says he could return to the ice on Friday.Crosby missed the final 41 games of the 2010-11 season, and has yet to suit up this season due to a concussion. Of course, the biggest concern is what happens if Crosby suffers another concussion. Crosby has been practicing with the Penguins, and while reports are that he looks good, his contact has been limited in practice.
The NHL could certainly use the bump that will be associated with Crosby’s return. Early on, attendance has been a huge disappointment as the NHL tries to take advantage of the NBA’s lockout.
The Penguins on the other hand, have done very well without Crosby. Their 21 points is tops in the NHL and leads their division by three points over the Philadelphia Flyers.
