The NFL regular season is over.Going into the playoffs, a handful of teams are coming on strong (Seahawks, Bengals), while others are sputtering (Texans, Ravens).
Here are the final power rankings for all 32 teams. For the playoff teams, we included one thing to watch in January. And for the non-playoff teams, we included one thing they can build on going into 2013.
Click here to see the rankings >
We took our rankings from last week and moved teams up and down based on the following criteria:
- A win: up 2 spots
- A loss: down 1 spot
- A loss by 10+ points: down 2 spots
- A win against a top-5 team from the week before: up 2 spots
- A win against a top-12 team from the week before (aka, a playoff team): up 1 spot
- Covering the point spread: up 1 spot
Thing to know going into the playoffs: They've only beaten two teams with winning records. So despite the fact that they're the #1 seed in the AFC, we still don't really know how good they are because they're untested.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: It'll all come down to the defence, which is greatly improved from earlier this season. They've only given up 20 points or more once in their last six games after giving up 20+ in seven of their first 10 games.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: Don't read too much into the Bucs loss. They lost to the Panthers earlier this year when they were coasting, and then killed the Giants the next week when they were more focused.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: They struggle on the road. They're 4-4 away from home, and their best road win is against the Titans.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: Keep an eye on the injuries. Defensive lineman Justin Smith is a really important player, and the 49ers will get a huge lift if he comes back in two weeks.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: Adrian Peterson has absolutely torched Green Bay this year. Can he do the same in Lambeau on Saturday?
Thing to know going into the playoffs: It's all about Christian Ponder. Green Bay is going to crowd the line to stop Peterson, and Ponder needs to make a play or two if the Vikings are going to pull off an upset.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: RGIII doesn't look healthy. He can still throw it just as good as he used to. But he looked really limited by a knee injury against Dallas.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: Don't read too much into the Bengals loss. They rested most of their good players.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: This is quietly the third-hottest team in the league (behind the Seahawks and Broncos). They're 7-1 in their last eight, and the defence has come on really strong.
Thing to know going into the playoffs: They may have peaked too early. Houston is leaking oil all over the place, and you'll have to hope they just lost a bit of focus in December.
Thing to build on in 2013: The core of a Super Bowl contender is still there. Some tweaks to the secondary and they should be fine next year.
Thing to build on in 2013: The defence was still really, really good. If Chicago can find even an ounce of consistency on offence next year, they can contend again.
Thing to build on in 2013: Maybe they just got injured this year. The offensive line, defence, and even Ben Roethlisberger all missed significant time.
Thing to build on in 2013: They won their last four games. Cam Newton started doing Cam Newton things again, and the defence held three of four opponents to 20 points or less.
Thing to build on in 2013: Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray are both stars. Dallas lacks consistency on both sides of the ball, but there's a semblance of a core there at the skill positions.
Thing to build on in 2013: They finally get some new blood, assuming Norv Turner will be fired.
Thing to build on in 2013: They have solid young players. The jury is still out on Josh Freeman, but in Doug Martin they have a consistent running game, which not many teams can say right now.
Thing to build on in 2013: Ryan Tannehill was not terrible. His play fell off a cliff in the last month or so of the year, but he showed enough to give Dolphins fans hope going into 2013.
Thing to build on in 2013: They defence is legit. This team could be a Seahawks-esque sleeper next year because they have one potentially devastating unit.
Thing to build on in 2013: They get their coach back. It turns out Sean Payton makes a huge difference in wins and losses.
Thing to build on in 2013: Chris Johnson showed flashes of his former self. It's not clear if he'll be back with the team, but if he is they'll have a guy who is at least an average running back.
Thing to build on in 2013: The defence is still solid. As messed up as the Jets were on offence, the D was top 10 in yards allowed, and they'll get back Darrelle Revis.
Thing to build on in 2013: The running game. They were 6th in the NFL in rushing yards. If their defence can improve, that can become a big-time weapon next year.
Thing to build on in 2013: Matt Stafford set the record for most pass attempts ever .... Does that count?
Thing to build on in 2013: They had a nice stretch in the middle of the year where it looked like they had some talent. The defence isn't terrible, and Weeden showed that he can be a league-average QB at times.
Thing to build on in 2013: The QB situation can't possibly get any worse.
Biggest thing we learned this week: Fresh blood. Andy Reid is out after a generally successful 14-year tenure that had soured since 2010. They have talent, they just need consistency and some linemen.
Thing to build on in 2013: The running game has room to improve? On paper, Oakland should be able to run the ball, but they were 28th in the league in 2012.
Thing to build on in 2013: Jamaal Charles. Just give him the ball every time. Just do it.
Thing to build on in 2013: They'll have the #2 pick and the chance to draft a legitimate QB.
