The 10 NFL Teams That Have Dominated The Past Decade

tom brady

In the last 10 years, the NFL has seen seven different teams win the Super Bowl.

But Super Bowl wins aren’t necessarily the best way to determine team dominance.

Instead, let’s break the teams down to their simplest form. Which teams are the best at scoring more points than their opponents?

Over the course of a single season, more dominating teams should outscore their opponents more than other teams.

#10 New York Giants

Over the last 10 years, the Giants have averaged 8.9 wins, winning one Super Bowl during the 2007 season. Over that span, the Giants have outscored their opponents by 119 points, with an average score of 20.7 to 20.0.

#9 New York Jets

Over the last 10 years, the Jets have averaged 8.4 wins. During that span, the Jets have outscored their opponents by 140 points, with an average score of 18.9 to 18.1.

#8 New Orleans Saints

Over the last 10 years, the Saints have averaged 8.7 wins, winning one Super Bowl during the 2009 season. During that span, the Saints have outscored their opponents by 189 points, with an average score of 22.5 to 21.4.

#7 Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have averaged 9.5 wins over the last decade. They have outscored their opponents by 588 points, with an average score of 19.7 to 16.4.

#6 San Diego Chargers

The Chargers have never won a Super Bowl, but they have averaged 9.6 wins per season over the last decade. During that time, the Chargers have outscored their opponents by 756 points in the regular season, with an average score of 23.7 to 19.4.

#5 Green Bay Packers

The Packers won last year's Super Bowl, but have been consistently good over the last 10 years, averaging 10.0 wins. They have outscored their opponents by 808 points, with an average score of 23.3 to 18.7.

#4 Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have been the fourth best regular season team over the last 10 years, averaging 10.3 wins, but have no Super Bowls to show for it. Over that span, the Eagles have outscored their opponents by 831 points, with an average score of 22.4 to 17.7.

#3 Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have two Super Bowl wins in the last 10 years and have averaged 10.8 wins during the regular season. Over that span, the Steelers have outscored their opponents by 875 points, with an average score of 21.0 to 16.1.

#2 Indianapolis Colts

The NFL's second most dominant team over the last decade has been the Indianapolis Colts, who have averaged 11.5 wins and have outscored their opponents by 889 points. That is an average score of 24.6 to 19.5. But during that time, the Colts have just one Super Bowl win.

#1 New England Patriots

No surprise that the New England Patriots have been the most dominating team in the last 10 years, but the level of domination is astonishing. They have averaged 12.4 wins per season, and have outscored their opponents by 1,410 points or 8.0 points per game (24.9 to 16.9). That is nearly three points per game more than the next most dominating team.
