The Chicago Bears have reportedly fired General Manager Jerry Angelo after 11 years with the franchise (via The Big Lead).Despite success with the Bears, this move is not much of a surprise. During his tenure with the team, the Bears made four playoff appearances, including two trips to the NFC Championship game, one of which came just last season. The Bears also appeared in Super Bowl XLI, losing to the Colts.
But the Bears missed the playoffs this season, despite a 7-3 start. And Angelo was oft-criticised for his moves in the draft and in free agency, including the decision to keep quarterback Caleb Hanie this past off-season. Hanie went 0-4 as the starter after replacing the injured Jay Cutler.
