With the ongoing police investigations at the Sun and other News International papers in the UK, the pressure building must be incredible. That’s why its especially sad to hear that two journalists at the organisation have reportedly attempted suicide, the Evening Standard reports. Rupert Murdoch is said to have put both in hospital at the expense of News International.
More details of the incident have not been released.
11 people at the Sun have been arrested since the start of the year, and editors at the paper have accused News International itself of running a “witch hunt”. The scandal grew out of last year’s huge phone hacking controversy, which eventually resulted in the shut down of the News of the World, previously the UK’s biggest Sunday paper.
Last year a reporter widely seen as a whistle-blower in the scandal was found dead at his home. His death was later attributed to substance-abuse.
