With a total of 26 press conferences during the daytime portions of the show and nine parties at night, the New York Auto Show was a bit overwhelming and totally awesome at the same time.Over the last few days, we have seen a number of incredible cars, including the amazing new Viper. We saw some great booth babes, bumped into industry icons like the legendary Roger Penske, and even got to drive a Ferrari around an autocross cross at full tilt (more on that soon).
But what were the best and worst cars we saw? Was the Viper really the best of the entire show?
Can Samantha from Fiat walk away with the coveted Business Insider award for “Best Booth Babe” two times in a row, or will someone new take the crown?
BEST (NEW CAR) IN SHOW: SRT Viper GTS - A long wait for Viper fans was met with a car that should live up to all their expectations. We cannot wait to have a go in it.
THE REAL BEST IN SHOW: 1971 Porsche 917LH - Porsche brought this 917 out of its museum in Germany just for the show. It was an honour to be in the same room as this car that ran at Le Mans with Quick Vic Elford (also there) behind the wheel.
MOST SIGNIFICANT: Nissan NV200 Taxi - This is important for anyone who will be in New York in the next 10 years. The NV200 will be the new face of the taxi cab worldwide when it gets its start on the bustling streets of Manhattan in 2013.
BEST CONCEPT: Infiniti LE - An electric luxury car that looks great. If the range is good, this could be a winner.
MOST FUN: Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept - The Evoque is one of the best-looking cars on the road today. Chop the top, and you have an awesome, open-air ride.
MOST AWKWARD PRESS CONFERENCE: Jaguar/Land Rover - Even though the Evoque looked great, Jaguar staged a mock interview between a number of executives. It was very weird to watch.
BIGGEST TEASE: Jaguar F-Type - And giving them a suite of three awards, Jaguar confirmed they will be making a two-seater based on the CX-16 Concept they showed in Geneva. We thought it was about to pop out on stage. Instead, we got a video of a red blanket and a short shot of the protoype on track.
BEST RACE CAR: Viper GTS-R - The Viper is back to compete against the Corvette, Porsche 911, BMW M3, Panoz Abruzzi, and others. We cannot wait.
BEST AMPHIBIOUS CAR: Mini Yachtsman - While a lot of buzz was around the Terrafugia Transition, Mini decided to add a snorkel and a hull to a Mini Cooper S. The result appeared to be a project from Top Gear.
MOST EXPENSIVE CAR: Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Blanc Noir - The standard Veyron Grand Sport has a STARTING PRICE of $2.2 million. We can only imagine how much more the Blanc Noir costs.
HOTTEST BOOTH BABE: Samantha from Fiat - Now a two time winner, we spoke to Samantha again in New York about the Abarth brand and her experiences with the cars. Every manufacturer should take note of how knowledgeable she is and how professionally she carries herself.
