Any renter knows apartments rarely come with perfectly equitable rooms and amenities across the board, which makes deciding how to divvy up the rental check one of the first challenges of signing a lease.
While sites like Splitwise help co-dwellers share expenses like utilities, rent and repairs, a new web tool takes an auction-like approach to let renters stake their claim on different rooms.
Once all bids are submitted, the site uses an algorithm to determine the fairest match, leaving each person assigned to a room and a certain rent amount.
The site is clearly in its early stages, but it’s worth checking out if you want an objective way to split the rent.
