An interesting detail reported by David Pogue in the New York Times, which we found via The Loop:

Many Apple observers also wonder if Apple thinks that desktop computers are dead, since not a word was said about the iMac and Mac Pro. An executive did assure me, however, that new models and new designs are under way, probably for release in 2013.

There were rumours that new iMacs would be announced yesterday, potentially even with Retina display.

That certainly didn’t happen, but now we know there’s a desktop refresh on the way in 2013.
