Twentieth Century Fox has just purchased a new Super Bowl ad for their animated movie “Rio” that will give viewers a code to unlock a new level of Angry Birds.Variety reports (via Sports Business Daily) that Fox and Rovio are planning to release a special “Angry Birds Rio” version of the hit game, to help promote the movie.
Fans who get the code during the TV spot can enter to win a trip to Rio de Janeiro for the premiere.
The last-minute buy is a bit of surprise, since FOX claimed back in October that they had sold all of their ads for the big game. Apparently they found room in the schedule (and their wallets) to squeeze in another $2.5M, 30-second spot during the fourth quarter.
