Once hailed as one of high fashion’s most formidable visionaries, John Galliano is out on his couture-clad butt today.
Dior had already suspended the designer after he was arrested for assault last month. But when a video of a drunken Galliano making anti-Semitic comments surfaced, the design house put the nail in his career coffin.
It didn’t help that newly-minted Oscar winner Natalie Portman slammed Galliano in WWD, saying that his comments “deeply shocked and disgusted” her. (Portman is the current face of Dior perfume Miss Dior Cherie.)
Galliano faithful had already turned on him by the end of awards season. Though he’s normally a red carpet go-to, only Nicole Kidman stuck by Galliano, wearing a cream column with metallic embroidery he designed.
