The National Australia Bank’s online business banking system went down for most of Wednesday afternoon and evening, leaving customers unable to pay staff or suppliers.

The bank first acknowledged the problems with NAB Connect at 1:36pm Sydney time on social media, apologising for the downtime and saying it was working to find a solution as soon as possible:

The outage forced NAB later to extend the payment cut-off time to 7:30pm, following backlash on social media:

The bank previously left shoppers in limbo three days before Christmas last year, when its consumer online banking systems went down. Then again in May the company suffered another internet and mobile banking outage that left customers unimpressed.

Business Insider contacted NAB but had not received a response at the time of writing. A bank spokesperson told Fairfax Media that business banking systems were back to normal on Thursday morning.
