MYSTERY SOLVED: Guess Who Poached Yahoo Sales VP Wendi Sturgis?

Wendi Sturgis

We already told you Yahoo VP of accounts Wendi Sturgis is leaving.

Now we know where she’s going.

She just told us on the phone that she is off to become EVP of sales and services at YEXT – the startup that helps local businesses list themselves on the Internet.

Sturgis, who came to Yahoo with its ~$700 million Right Media acquisition back in 2007, will be re-joining former Right Media CEO Michael Walrath, who is chairman of YEXT.

YEXT announced a $10 million raise last week.

The company started out as a pay-per-call ad service for local businesses, and while that’s gone well enough – revenues are in the seven-digits – YEXT’s backers don’t think the business has a high enough ceiling.

So now the startup is trying to give local businesses (or better, big Fortune 500s) a one-stop shop for getting listed on all the “local” sites and services out there – from Foursquare to Yelp to Twitter to the Yellow Pages.
