Mother Arrested After Allegedly Giving 5-Month-Old Daughter Alcohol

A California mother is in jail after reportedly using a water bottle filled with alcohol to make her daughter’s formula.

But Iesha Hill, 26, claims the entire thing was an accident, Fox 40 reported.

“I feel that her mother should be here. I don’t feel that she should have been arrested because it was an accident,” Hill’s mother Tressie Piggee told the television station.

Hill was arrested Saturday on charges of child abuse.

The unnamed 5-month-old girl was brought to a Stockton, Calif.-area hospital after the incident. Medical staff alerted the police.

“A 5-month-old baby ingesting any amount of alcohol, that’s definitely a serious situation which has to be dealt with immediately,” Stockton Police Department Officer Joe Silva told Fox 40.

The baby is on the path toward a full recovery.
