This month the rich splurged on some weird items.They included a dagger, some Margaret Thatcher memorabilia, and an African buffalo.

The complete sale of paintings, prints, and photography at Skinner Inc. totaled $2.7 million.

Margaret Thatcher's power suit sold for nearly $40,000.

The vase, found in a home in Morpeth, was originally valued at just $48,600.

There was a lot of interest in the vase, but no clear reason what all the fuss was about.

It sold to a private collector in the United States.

A Ming Dynasty moonflask sold for $1.3 million.

A Ming Dynasty moonflask that was previously used as a doorstop in Long Island sold for $1.314 million at auction.

It was estimated to sell for just $900,000. The moonflask has cobalt blue colouring on a porcelain white base.

The most expensive item sold from Brooke Astor's estate

A painting by John Frederick Lewis, which was sold as part of late socialite Brooke Astor's estate, went for $1.594 million.

The British painting, titled 'A Memlook Bey, Egypt,' is from around 1868.

Brooke Astor's estate sold for a total of $18.8 million at Sotheby's. The estate was comprised of 901 items.

A South African buffalo bull sold at auction for $3.25 million.

Most expensive wild animal ever sold in South Africa

A young buffalo bull with enormous bowed horns sold at auction for a record $3.25 million in South Africa earlier this month.

The bull, named Horizon, has horns that measure more than 51 inches long, and a horn base that is 16 inches wide. Those measurements are a record for a bull that's not even five years old, yet.
