A rare Andy Warhol painting
A painting of Edward Kennedy by Andy Warhol sold for $10,072, double the original estimate.The print is one of 300 issued by the Kennedy for President Committee in 1980.
The complete sale of paintings, prints, and photography at Skinner Inc. totaled $2.7 million.
Expensive Margaret Thatcher memorabilia
The suit Margaret Thatcher wore when she was confirmed as the Conservative Party leader sold for $39,670 at auction this month.
An anonymous bidder bought the turquoise wool suit in London. Six other suits were sold to an anonymous Korean buyer.
Expensive Elvis memorabilia
A bible given to Elvis in 1957 during his first Christmas at Graceland sold for $95,220 at auction this month. It crushed pre-sale estimates of $20,000 to $25,000.
It's believed to have been one of Elvis' most prized possessions. The wilting pages even contain Elvis' own annotations.
Rare Bugatti Type 40
It's estimated that 775 Type 40s were built, but only about 200 remain today.
The car was previously owned by Bugatti Owners Club engine block and Peter Cooper of Albury.
An exotic bejeweled dagger
A jewel encrusted Mughal dagger from India sold for $314,000. The dagger has diamonds, rubies, and emeralds set in it.
The dagger sold to a private collector.
The sale was a record for the Rago Art Collection House, which normally specialises in 20th century design.
The most expensive piece of art ever sold in Northeast England
A glass vase featuring two winged female nudes with outstretched arms sold for just more than $454,000.
The vase, found in a home in Morpeth, was originally valued at just $48,600.
There was a lot of interest in the vase, but no clear reason what all the fuss was about.
It sold to a private collector in the United States.
A very expensive doorstop
A Ming Dynasty moonflask that was previously used as a doorstop in Long Island sold for $1.314 million at auction.
It was estimated to sell for just $900,000. The moonflask has cobalt blue colouring on a porcelain white base.
The most expensive item sold from Brooke Astor's estate
The British painting, titled 'A Memlook Bey, Egypt,' is from around 1868.
Brooke Astor's estate sold for a total of $18.8 million at Sotheby's. The estate was comprised of 901 items.
Most expensive wild animal ever sold in South Africa
A young buffalo bull with enormous bowed horns sold at auction for a record $3.25 million in South Africa earlier this month.
The bull, named Horizon, has horns that measure more than 51 inches long, and a horn base that is 16 inches wide. Those measurements are a record for a bull that's not even five years old, yet.
