The 15 Most Famous Students In College This Semester

Lourdes and MadonnaCraig Barritt/GettyLourdes Leon will attend mum Madonna’s alma mater in the fall.

Another school year is just around the corner, with upperclassmen returning to finish their degrees and a whole new crop of eager freshman ready to make their marks.

While most students spent their summers rejuvenating, taking additional classes, or building resumes with a summer internship, some college kids spent their vacations in the spotlight.

Lourdes Leon celebrated her high school graduation with mum Madonna on a luxury yacht in France, while Dakota Fanning kept up her impressive film portfolio.

See which celebrities and famous offspring will be hitting the books this fall semester.

Alexander Ludwig

College: University of Southern California

Year: Senior

Canadian actor Alexander Ludwig played the ruthless District 2 tribute Cato in the first 'Hunger Games' movie. (He's the one who fights Peeta and Katniss on top of the cornucopia in the final fight scene.)

A Phi Kappa Psi brother and theatre major, Ludwig belongs to one of USC's most exclusive fraternities, which has a reputation for throwing the year's wildest parties.

Chiara de Blasio

College: Santa Clara University

Year: Senior

During her father Bill de Blasio's New York City mayoral campaign, Chiara starred in an advertisement and made a dramatic, surprise return from college to cast a vote for him.

The floral-headband-wearing hipster recently made headlines of her own with a powerfully candid video about her struggles with depression, and history of drug and alcohol abuse.

Corinne Foxx

College: University of Southern California

Year: Junior

Like her dad, Foxx has appeared in the red carpet spotlight, at multiple premiers, awards shows, and after parties since she was seven.

Now 20, she's a cheerleader and Public Relations major at USC, but she still finds time to party with Queen Bey and dish on her style for W Magazine.

Dakota Fanning

College: New York University

Year: Senior

This film actress, who has starred in the 'Twilight' films, 'I Am Sam,' and 'The Runaways,' is often spotted skulking around the Gallatin School, a small interdisciplinary college within NYU that provides 'individualized study.'

Fanning reportedly opts out of dorm life in favour of a two-bedroom apartment in the Nolita neighbourhood, close to the heart of NYU's urban campus.

Hailie Jade Scott Mathers

College: Michigan State University

Year: Freshman

It seems like just yesterday that Eminem was rapping about his young daughter in 'Hailie's Song' and 'Mockingbird.' Now Scott Mathers has graduated from high school with honours, and has an impressive GPA of at least 3.9.

The rapper's daughter says she's interested in studying psychology and entrepreneurship once she gets to school in the fall.

Jack Quaid

College: New York University

Year: Senior

The son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan splashed onto the big-screen in the box-office hit 'Hunger Games,' playing the spear-wielding District 1 tribute who killed pint-sized, fan-favourite Rue. He's not so bad in real life.

The goofy young actor creates comedy sketches with friends on YouTube and Vine, and attends the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

Jacqueline Emerson

College: Stanford University

Year: Sophomore

The young redhead originally deferred her enrollment at Stanford for a year in order to pursue her budding acting career, and it paid off when she landed the part of a lifetime as Foxface in the first 'Hunger Games' movie.

When she's not in class, Emerson can be found touring around Berlin, where her father works as the recently-sworn-in U.S. Ambassador to Germany.

Jameis Winston

College: Florida State University

Year: Sophomore

The name 'Famous Jameis' has been on everyone's lips since December when he became the second straight freshman to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy -- the Golden Globe of college football. The quarterback also led his team to an epic victory in the Bowl Championship series against Auburn University with just 13 seconds on the clock.

Winston came under fire this year for an alleged sexual assault incident that reportedly took place over a year ago, but no charges have been filed.

Justin Combs

College: University of California Los Angeles

Year: Junior

Justin Combs, known by way of his musician father Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs, is attending UCLA -- on a $US54,000 football scholarship, inciting backlash from critics.

The scholarship reportedly had no bearing on need-based scholarships also given to students, and the 5'9', 170-pound defensive back defended his decision to accept the scholarship, tweeting that he 'put that work in' and earned it.

Justine Bateman

College: University of California Los Angeles

Year: Junior

The 47-year-old Bateman gained her fame as the ditzy Mallory Keaton on 'Family Ties,' but she's proving she's not as ditzy as the character she played. A computer science major, Bateman chronicles the ins and outs of being an undergraduate in her 40s on her Tumblr blog, College Life.

Lourdes Leon

College: University of Michigan

Year: Freshman

Madonna's daughter, Lourdes Leon, will enroll in college this fall where she'll be studying at the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Lourdes, aka Lola, will actually be following in her mother's footsteps -- Madonna herself attended the school before leaving to pursue pop-stardom.

Marcus Mariota

College: University of Oregon

Year: Senior

On par with Jameis Winston, Mariota is on the path of breaking most of the records his school has ever seen. Many were surprised that Mariota will be returning to Oregon as quarterback this year, since he was one of the top players in the 2014 NFL draft.

He will, however, have a pretty nice class schedule, signing up for only yoga and golf.

Missy Franklin

College: University of California Berkeley

Year: Sophomore

Franklin took home five medals -- four of them gold -- for the U.S. Olympic swim team at the London Olympic games, and plans to turn pro after the 2015 NCAA Championships. In the meantime, Franklin swims for the Golden Bears at UC Berkeley, lives on campus with her roommate (also a swimmer for Berkeley), and reportedly did pretty well her freshman year, earning A's in all four of her classes.

Patrick Schwarzenegger

College: University of Southern California

Year: Junior

The son of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and activist Maria Shriver (who helped him move in to his dorm at the start of freshman year), the young Schwarzenegger is an actor, model, and junior at USC. Like his dad, Patrick has been pumping some serious iron at the USC gym and trains with fitness guru to the stars Eric Fleishman.

Raven Symone

College: Academy of Art University

Year: Freshman

Everybody's favourite 'That's So Raven' star is the latest Disney Channel celeb to hit the books. After excitedly instagramming a photo of her student ID, Raven Symone revealed that she'll be studying in San Francisco this fall.

Though the star is 28, she's proof that it's never too late to go back to school. Symone also instagrammed a selfie with some rainbow hair, proudly stating that it was 'new hair for a new life.'
