In Major League Baseball, more than the other sports, the character of the ballpark is often just as important to the games as the teams themselves. Is the surface grass or synthetic? Is the infield all dirt or are there just cutouts around the bags? How much foul territory is there? How far is the wall from home plate? All of these factors influence the game, and provide a unique canvas on which to paint the game.
