SPORTS CHART OF THE DAY: Tony LaRussa Retires As One Of The Best Managers Ever

Love him or hate him, Tony LaRussa retired with some impressive numbers.

In 33 years, only Connie Mack (7,755) managed in more games than LaRussa (5,097). LaRussa’s 2,728 wins are third all-time (of course, his 2,365 losses are second all-time, but who’s counting).  And while it is easier to get to the playoffs these days, only Bobby Cox (16) and Joe Torre (15) took their teams to the playoffs more often than LaRussa (14).

In total, LaRussa skippered his teams to the World Series six times, winning it all in three seasons. And along with Sparky Anderson, those two are the only managers to win the World Series in both leagues.
