Ann Romney would “love” if her husband, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, chooses a woman to be his running mate.
In a wide-ranging interview with CBS, Ann Romney said that she and her husband have been “looking at” the possibility of a female vice presidential nominee.
“We’ve been looking at that, and I’d love that option as well,” Ann Romney said, when asked by CBS’ Jan Crawford if she thinks Mitt should choose a woman. “But there are a lot of people that Mitt is considering right now.”
Of the potential speculative running mates, the women most commonly mentioned are Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.), Sen. Kelly Ayotte from New Hampshire, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez. Last month, Rice said there was “no way” she’d be Romney’s running mate.
