Apple’s manufacturing partners are supposedly delivering completed 7.85-inch iPads, reports DigiTimes.

Furthermore, mass production is expected to begin as early as Q3 this year.

It’s long been speculated that Apple is working on a smaller iPad to compete with the $200 Kindle Fire, even though the iPad snatched a huge majority of the tablet market last year.

The launch price price for the scaled-down Apple tablet will supposedly be $249-$299, as Apple is also expected to introduce an 8 GB iPad 2 at $349-$399.
