The idea: Fab.com aims to glam up the daily deal market by offering discounts targeted at those interested in gay bars, high fashion, and sexy men’s tighty whities.
Launched yesterday, the Big Gay Deal of the Day offers local and national deals Monday through Friday. The site’s founders plan to roll out discounts on Out magazine and Slick It Up clothing, as well as gym memberships, spas, restaurants, dance studios, and gay-specific merchandise that are hard to find on mainstream daily deal markets.
Why it’s brilliant: Everyone loves to save money and if done well, the Big Gay Deal of the Day could capture the interest of its target audience. “Gay men are looking for bargains like everyone else, but we weren’t receiving gay-relevant offers even though the gay community purchases $700 billion worth of goods annually in the U.S. alone,” said Shellhammer in a press release. “Whether you’re planning a trip to a popular gay destination or looking for leather gear to wear to a Black Party, we’ve got the most gay relevant daily deals to save you money.”
