Miley Cyrus opened the VMAs with an 'Instagram Think Tank' that helps her decide what to post

Miley Cyrus opened Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards by expressing her love of Instagram.

The 22-year-old singer, who has 27.7 million Instagram followers, told the crowd: “I took the year off to focus on my true love —  Instagram.”

“I just find that it’s a much easier way to express myself and connect with my fans,” she continued. “When it comes to my posts, everyone thinks I just think of some crazy s— and then I just post it, but it’s a lot more involved than that.”

Cyrus then told the crowd to “take a look at my process” and cut to a previously filmed sketch…

Funny men Andy Samberg and Ike Barinholtz starred at Cyrus’ Instagram consultants.

“Remember you wanted to take a standard wink selfie?” asks Barinholtz. “What did I say? ‘No, no, no. Let the bejeweled eyepatch do the winking for you.'”

Cyrus then used her knowledge from the think tank to try and compete with Ellen DeGeneres’ star-studded awards show selfie:

It was complete with a photobomb by selfie-lover Kim Kardashian:

Here’s the final product, which garnered Cyrus over 593,000 likes:

“Congratulations to all you guys for being a part of my most normal Instagram ever,” Cyrus later told the crowd.
