With Erick Schonfeld’s unexpected departure from TechCrunch, former Editor in Chief Michael Arrington felt compelled to weigh in.
In a post titled “Helpful Tips For Keeping Your Job As Editor Of TechCrunch,” Arrington unloads on Huffington.
“Arianna Huffington seems to enjoy f–ing with TechCrunch in her leisure time,” writes Arrington.
He says she was initially supportive of Schonfeld but was irritated by the way MG Siegler’s departure was handled. She was particularly perturbed that Uncrunched broke the news.
Arrington says Schonfeld was a “marked man” from then on.
“Yes, something that petty can piss her off,” he writes.
He says TechCrunch has to watch its back because it has a “very touchy psychopath conducting a game of musical chairs to the death.”
Arrington says he personally called Eric Eldon to congratulate him on his promotion and gave him some advice for running TechCrunch.
He leaves the last piece of advice on his blog:
“Don’t bring a knife to a gun fight with Arianna. She’s smart and she’s mean as hell and she tends to win her fights. I lost.”
