Michael Levy Barbosa, a mortgage bond trader at Pereza Capital in St. Petersburg, Florida, is also successful amateur golfer.Barbosa, 28, competed in the U.S. Open in June and will be playing this weekend at the 87th Crump Cup in Clementon, New Jersey at the exclusive world-renowned Pine Valley Golf Club, Bloomberg reported.
Last year, he made the quarter finals at the Crump Cup.
He told Bloomberg that golf has helped him professionally in his career trading mortgage-backed securities. He’s been at Morgan Stanley for a year.
“You have a chance to be around a lot of successful guys and see what they’re doing,” Barbosa told the financial news outlet. “It’s a good opportunity for someone who’s 28 years old and just making their way in the world.”
Apart from being a bond trader and an amateur golfer, he’s been busy in other areas of his life.
Barbosa, a Stetson law school grad, passed the bar exam last August. He also got married in March.
He graduated from Georgia Tech in 2005 with a degree in management.
While at Tech, he played for the school’s varsity golf team where he earned ACC academic honour roll all five years and was named an “All-American Scholar.”
