Medical examiners did not find any skin in the stomach of the Miami cannibal, even though witnesses claim he chewed the flesh off the face of his victim. However, the autopsy did find a large number of unidentified pills in Rudy Eugene’s stomach, the Miami Herald reported.
Eugene was shot to death over Memorial Day weekend when police found him eating a homeless man’s face.
The homeless man has since been identified as Ronald Poppo.
Police believe Eugene ripped off Poppo’s skin but spit the flesh out on the sidewalk, which is why no flesh was found inside Eugene, the Miami Herald reported.
However, bits of flesh were found stuck between Eugene’s teeth.
Autopsy results won’t be released until police finish their investigation of the incident, but law enforcement sources told the Miami Herald the post-death examination also found marijuana in Eugene’s system.
Investigators assume some type of drug led to the attack, but haven’t concluded if Eugene was on “bath salts” a stimulant that can cause paranoia and violence.
