Citi Field is just four years old and already the lure of the beautiful park has worn off as Mets attendance at the new stadium has now dropped for the third straight season.
With their home schedule complete, the Mets drew just 2.2 million fans this season, or 28,035 per game. That is just 17th in Major League Baseball, and down 44.5% from 2008, their final season in Shea Stadium (4.0 million tickets sold) and down 29.2% since 2009, the first year in Citi Field (3.2 million tickets sold).
