A Russian citizen downloaded more 3G data than anyone else in the country and won a nice vacation in the process, reports The Next Web.Between November 1 and January 31, customers who bought a 3G modem from Russian telecom provider MegaFon were encouraged to go nuts and download to their hearts’ content. Whoever downloaded the most data would win a $5,000 trip abroad.
The winner downloaded 419 GB of 3G data in a week.
The contest was a means for MegaFon to show off its 3G infrastructure, which proved expansive. Second and third place were won by people living in the rural towns of Novgorod and Yaroslavl, hitting download speeds up to 21 megabits.
