ORIGINAL POST: Top datapoint of the day: May Factory Orders.Analysts expect growth of 0.1%, an improvement from a decline of 0.6% in the month before.

UPDATE: Good number!

Factory orders surged 0.7% in the month.

That’s well past expectations of a 0.1% gain.

Last month was revised down a hair from -0.6% to -0.7%, but that doesn’t take much away from a good number.

Excluding transportation, there was a gain of 0.4%.
