Where in the world is Sarah Palin? Why, this morning, she was at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, as she travels to New York to co-host NBC’s “Today” show on Tuesday. NBC didn’t miss a chance to promote the appearance during “Today” Monday morning, and Palin called into the show to preview her appearance Tuesday. Palin, of course, will go head-to-head with Katie Couric, who is guest co-hosting ABC’s “Good Morning America” all week.
The video conversation below is full of subliminal tension that should make Tuesday a must-watch — or at least the highlights of Palin’s performance. First, Ann Curry, who takes much of the heat for NBC’s slipping ratings in the morning segment, asked if Palin had any “worries” about her “big day tomorrow,” touting Palin’s cred as a “sportscaster” from, oh, 20 years ago but failing to mention anything about the past two years on Fox News.
“My big day tomorrow? How nervous should you all be, perhaps?” Palin said in response, and everyone gave a big fake laugh in response.
“Yikes!” Matt Lauer said.
A little while later, Lauer referenced her disastrous 2008 interview with Couric on CBS, one in which when pressed, she couldn’t name a single newspaper or publication she regularly reads. He asked if she was preparing for her guest hosting spot by reading newspapers.
“That’s a fine how do you do,” Palin said, after a round of “oh-no-you-didn’t” yells from the crew of Curry, Al Roker and Monday’s guest co-host, Meredith Viera.
“That’s a great start. Here we go.”
You may note, however, that she still didn’t specify if she reads any newspapers.
