ORIGINAL POST, SEE UPDATE BELOW: These days the US has two PMI-like readings on the same day. There’s the ISM (which has existed for a long time) and comes out at 10:00 AM, and there’s the Markit US PMI, which comes out at 8:58, and is a very young index.
All night we’ve been getting PMI readings throughout the world and the general trend has been: Bad, but not more horrible than expected. Just standard horrible.
The expectations for the Markit PMI are for a reading of 52.9, which is the same as the 52.9 seen last month.
We’ll have the number here LIVE.
52.5 is the reading, and it’s a hair below expectations.
Still, it’s a solidly positive reading, and it’s not going to change very much.
