According to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times, Mark Cuban will bid on the Los Angeles Dodgers after all.The sale of the Dodgers is now being handled by an investment bank and Cuban confirmed he will go through the process, although he is not obligated to bid at this point.
Cuban had already spoken with the Dodgers about purchasing the team earlier this year, but said he was only interested if the price was below $1 billion. He appeared to back off when early estimates said selling the team could command at least $1 billion.
One report in September suggested McCourt already had one offer for the Dodgers worth $1.2 billion. However, that offer would have required McCourt to also hand over the surrounding parking lots, something McCourt does not want to do.
