The emerald green dress that Marilyn Monroe wore in River of No Return just sold at an auction in China for $504,000, far above pre-sale estimates of $200,000 to $300,000.The identity of the buyer was not revealed.

The sale, by Julien’s Auctions, took place at a resort in Macau and featured other music and movie memorabilia including items owned by Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Madonna, Michael Jordon and Tiger Woods.

The green velvet dress wasn’t the first Monroe garment to fetch a high price this summer. The white dress she wore in The Seven Year Itch (and which was famously blown skywards by a subway grate) sold for $5.6 million at an auction over the summer.
