UPSET: Here's How Maria Sharapova Just Got Knocked Out Of The US Open


Maria Sharapova took an early exit from the U.S. Open this afternoon, losing to Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the third round.

We were watching live, and grabbed some great reaction shots from the most pivotal moments of the match.

Sharapova looked lost in the first set, and eventually fell 6-3

She got her mojo back in the second, taking a 3-0 lead

The second set featured some long, tiring games

Pennetta broke and had a chance to make it 4-4

But she threw it away, getting easily broken

Sharapova readied herself to serve for the set

She served it out, and allowed herself a small fist pump going into the third set

It was all square at one-set apiece going into the third set

Sharapova staged a comeback after Pennetta took a 4-1 lead. Here she is after breaking to make it 4-3

But Pennetta held her serve two games later to make it 5-4

Sharapova was serving for her U.S. Open life

And Pennetta pummelled a forehand past her to complete the upset

Her box was elated

Sharapova was forced to leave Queens way earlier than she planned
