Man Paraglides Into French Nuclear Plant To Protest Security Lapses

A Greenpeace activist paraglided over a French nuclear plant to draw attention to gaps in protective measures for the country’s extensive nuclear power industry.

“This over flight shows the vulnerability of the French nuclear site to an air attack,” Sophia Majnoni d’Intignano, in charge of nuclear questions at Greenpeace, said in a statement via Reuters. “While Germany took account of a plane crash in its safety tests, France still refuses to analyse this risk for our reactors.”

France gets 75 per cent of its power from nuclear plants.

The man was promptly arrested upon landing.
