In August, the Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, said Barnaby Joyce would be cleared by the High Court to stand in parliament.

“The leader of the National Party, the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia is qualified to sit in this house and the High Court will so hold,” he said.

As Twitter user @Shorten_Suite puts it, “Well, this is awkward.”

On Friday afternoon, the High Court ruled Joyce is no longer a Member of Parliament.
