A lot of Macy’s sales representatives are gonna be a little bit grumpy today. The sale-slinging retailer announced Monday that it has jumped on the Black Friday midnight bandwagon with plans to open doors at 800 of its stores at 12 a.m. on Nov. 25.

This is a first for Macy’s, which is the latest retail giant to announce midnight openings the day after Thanksgiving. Not to be outdone, Target said Friday it plans to open 1,700 of its locations at 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening.

There’s no word yet on what Walmart’s Black Friday plans are, but the company opened its stores at midnight last year.

Macy’s chairman Terry Lundgren said the retailer made the midnight decision “in response to our customer’s eagerness to shop early for great deals.”
