LPGA Cancels Tournament In Mexico Over Concerns About Drug Violence

The LPGA has canceled the Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Mexico, over fears that drug violence has the made the area too dangerous.The tournament was set to be held in April 2011, but will not be rescheduled this year. However, the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Guadalaraja remains on the schedule for November.

Two weeks ago, gunmen killed seven spectators at a soccer match in Ciudad Juarez and 12 federal police officers have been killed in Morelia’s state of Michoacan since 2009.
